Filmmaker Peter Stefanovic has created a new video this time calling out the Government for an “onslaught on British liberties.”

The TUC published an article by Paul Nowak also slamming the new anti-strike legislation. Paul wrote: “Make no mistake – this is one of the most pernicious pieces of union-bashing legislation you will ever see.

“And the TUC is by no means alone in saying this.

“Over the weekend the UN workers’ rights watchdog, the ILO, demanded that the UK bring trade union rights into line with international law.

“In a rare intervention, it instructed UK ministers to “seek technical assistance” from the body and to report back to the ILO in September.

“The last time the ILO issued this type of rebuke to the UK was in 1995.”

Also, in March the joint committee on human rights has said the government’s proposed anti-strike laws are “not justified and need to be reconsidered”, and “fails to meet UK’s human rights obligations.”

A government spokesperson said: “The purpose of this legislation is to protect the lives and livelihoods of the public and ensure they can continue to access vital public services.

“We note this report and will consider it in full, but the government needs to maintain a reasonable balance between the ability of workers to strike and the rights of the public, who work hard and expect essential services to be there when they need them.”

Peter shared the video and wrote: “If this Government’s outright onslaught on British liberties – restricting our right to protest, robbing millions of workers of their right to strike & stripping back human rights doesn’t terrify you it damn well should! If you watch just one thing today please make it this!”
