Philip Schofield has This Morning’s ‘tribute’ to Phillip Schofield is surely the strangest bit of telly you’ll watch this week.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary took over on presenting duties today (22 May), showing photos of Schofield on-screen – none of which included Holly Willoughby.

“We and all the team wish him the best for the future”, Hammond said.

Philip Schofield

Schofield left the show with ‘immediate effect’ following a string of controversies and rumoured tensions between him and his co-star, Willoughby.

It comes as his paedophile brother has been jailed over child sex offences.

Timothy Schofield, 54, was convicted of 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019, including two of sexual activity with a child, after a trial at Exeter Crown Court.

Holly Willoughby

Holly Willoughby has thanked her outgoing co-star for “13 great years presenting” after he announced he was leaving This Morning show with immediate effect following a reported feud between the pair.

In a short statement after Mr Schofield announced his departure, Ms Willoughby thanked her former colleague for “all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.”

She added: “The sofa won’t feel the same without him.”

Wow. A 30 second tribute where Alison and Dermot give a tribute to Phil, and say that Holly will be back in a fortnight. That's it. #ThisMorning
