There are claims that Wes Streeting called fellow MP Zarah Sultana ‘cheap,’ as she raised the issue of the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
It comes as she called out David Lammy, she wrote: “How does David Lammy sleep at night? Calling out his complicity in genocide is not “clickbait”. It’s the truth.”
It comes as Mahmoud Abbas, the chair of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and the president of the Palestinian Authority, on Wednesday hailed international rejection of Israel’s “blockade” and “starvation” of Gaza, after the European Union ordered a review of its cooperation deal with Israel, reports Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Abbas said in a statement: “We reiterate our welcome for the joint statement issued by the leaders of Britain, France, and Canada, as well as for the positions of the European Union countries, the joint statement of the donor countries and the statement of the Arab-Islamic ministerial committee on this matter.
“They all rejected the policies of blockade, starvation, displacement and land seizure.”
Also, hospitals in Gaza say Israeli strikes overnight and into Wednesday killed at least 45 people, including several women and a week-old infant, Associated Press reports.
Wes Streeting
But what does Wes Streeting make of it all?
One X user, Karl Hansen, shared the clip and wrote: “In this clip, you can hear @WesStreeting call Zarah Sultana “so cheap” for calling out the government’s lies about arming Israel’s genocide. What a nasty little weasel.”
In this clip it seems to confirm the claims. Saul Staniforth wrote: “The response of Wes Streeting to an MP challenging the Foreign Secretary over his refusal to ban all arms exports to the genocidal Israeli regime. “So cheap” I wonder what the voters of Ilford North will make of that?”
Karl Hasen also added: “You can also see @ShabanaMahmood say “absolutely” in agreement with Streeting. You’d think two MPs who narrowly avoided losing their seats to pro-Palestine candidates might hesitate before insulting someone for raising concerns about genocide. Apparently not.”
