Suella Braverman has been accused of endangering lives by stating Britain was being invaded by migrants the day after a firebomb attack on an asylum processing facility in Dover.

Refugee charities condemned the struggling home secretary’s words as “heinous” and “dehumanising” to refugees and migrants, while also putting Home Office workers and volunteers in danger.

Labour accused her of using “very irresponsible” rhetoric that put public safety at risk.

Ms Braverman argued yesterday in the Commons that the Labour Party was not “serious” about halting illegal migration.

Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn let his thoughts be known in his latest tweet:

The appalling conditions at Manston and the terror attack at Dover reflect a decades-long campaign to dehumanise refugees.

This is not a migrant crisis. This is a humanitarian crisis.

Expand safe routes, close down detention centres, and end the hostile environment.
