A senior official from Donald Trump’s administration clashed with a BBC journalist this week, branding claims of a Gaza food blockade as “fake news” and repeatedly threatening to end the interview.
Sebastian Gorka, Trump’s senior director for counter-terrorism, appeared on Radio 4’s World at One, where presenter Sarah Montague pressed him on reports of food shortages in the blockaded territory.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini recently told the BBC, “Starvation is spreading, people are exhausted, people are hungry. If no aid comes in, people won’t just die from bombardments – they’ll die from hunger.”
But Gorka pushed back, saying: “I wouldn’t listen to anyone who represents UNRWA. UNRWA is utterly morally corrupt and politically compromised. Its workers have been found aiding terrorists who kill innocent people simply because they’re Jewish.”
He added, “If you look at the math, the amount of food Israel has allowed into Gaza is enough to feed multiples of the residents there. So, where is that food really going?”

Montague then highlighted that UNRWA has more than 30,000 staff, only nine of whom were found to have “questions to answer” over alleged links to Hamas.
Gorka shot back: “That is nine too many. The real story isn’t fake news about starvation. The real story is UNRWA working in league with the terrorists.”
When Montague pushed him again on food shortages, Gorka snapped, “You’re interrupting me again. I will terminate this interview, OK? If you persist in talking about fake news about starvation in Gaza, we are done. We are finished.”
💥 Trump’s $400 Million Jet – Another Flashpoint
Later in the same interview, Montague pressed Gorka on Trump’s controversial acceptance of a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar – a move critics say could violate the US Constitution’s ban on accepting gifts from foreign governments without congressional approval.
Gorka, clearly riled, shot back: “Do you ever have pangs of conscience that you are so utterly and completely biased? Have you ever once said anything positive about President Trump or not knelt at the altar of left-wing ideology?”
With tensions high, the interview ended shortly afterwards, leaving listeners stunned by the heated exchange.
