Michael Sheen has expressed doubts about Sir Keir Starmer’s capability to implement the significant reforms necessary for the UK. In a discussion on The News Agents podcast, the Welsh actor criticised the UK’s two-party system, which he believes is inherently resistant to genuine change.

Highlighting examples from recent political history, Sheen pointed out the political careers of Liz Truss and Jeremy Corbyn as evidence of the system’s failings. Truss’s short-lived tenure as Prime Minister ended after just 49 days when her mini-budget led to severe market disruption and a potential financial crisis. Corbyn, on the other hand, resigned as the leader of the Labour Party following a significant defeat to Boris Johnson in the 2019 general election, despite a strong performance against Theresa May in 2017.

Sheen argued that true reform cannot be achieved within the constraints of the current two-party framework, suggesting that a more radical departure from this structure is necessary to address the pressing issues facing Britain today.
