John Bercow didn’t hold back in his interview with Al Arabiya English. He said he “feels embarrassed for Kemi Badenoch,” branding the Tory leader “completely out of her depth.”
🗣️ “She speaks so badly”
Bercow didn’t mince words:
“I don’t wish to be unkind to someone who is already in deep trouble, but Kemi Badenoch I am afraid is completely out of her depth. I feel embarrassed for Kemi when I hear her perform.”
He added:
“One often concludes it would be better if she didn’t speak at all. She is not in any serious sense a threat to the government.”
🤝 No love-in with Reform
On a possible Tory-Reform pact, Bercow was clear:
“I don’t think there will be a coalition between the Conservative Party and Reform. Nigel Farage doesn’t want a deal. He wants to destroy the Conservative Party.”
📉 Polls paint a dire picture
A new YouGov poll puts the Tories fourth on 16%, with Reform UK leading at 29%. Reports suggest some MPs eye Robert Jenrick or James Cleverly as potential replacements.
🌐 Praise for Starmer’s momentum
Now a Labour member, Bercow lauded Keir Starmer’s progress on the EU trade deal:
“Starmer has only been in power for less than 11 months and he has achieved a great deal more… I think frankly, a period of silence from the Conservatives would be suitable and widely welcomed.”
