At today’s PMQs PM Rishi Sunak appeared to signal there may be a vote on his Northern Ireland protocol deal.

Labour leader Sie Keir Starmer told Tory MPs they are cheering Sunak as he pulls the wool over their eyes. “Will Sunak confirm that MPs will get a vote on the final deal?”

Sunak replied that of course the Commons will express its view. This suggests that there will be a vote of some kind.

Keir Starmer repeats offer to back NIP deal in vote – though govt concerned about weakness of relying on Labour votes.

“It’s the same old story. The country has to wait while he plucks up the courage to take on the malcontents, the reckless, and the wreckers on his own benches.”

Some pointing out that “expressing a view” could just mean a general debate, rather than a specific vote on the deal.

Benefits of vote incl giving democratic mandate for deal plus ties in Tory MPs early. Risk is that there’s a big ERG rebellion & he has to rely on Labour votes.

Tomato Brexit

Something needs to be done about Brexit, now there is even a tomato shortage, which is not/or is caused by Brexit depending on which media outlet you read.

Tomato shortages are a Europe wide problem…. apart from the whole of the EU….. and Ukraine https://t.co/VWdtfwNqGc

But it was this comment that tickle us.

Liz Truss was famously outlasted by a lettuce.

Now Rishi Sunak is coming under intense pressure for various things, but Brexit is the big one.

So the question is…”Can we see if Rishi Sunak’s career as PM lasts as long a tomato?

“That’s if you can find a tomato.”
