Donald Trump’s Army Secretary, Dan Driscoll, has gone viral for all the wrong reasons — after claiming a US soldier is currently on the moon.
Yes, you read that right.
🎖️ “We talked to an astronaut yesterday… who’s on the moon”
While promoting the US Army’s 250th anniversary parade on Fox News, Driscoll appeared to momentarily forget where space actually is — and implied the US military has boots on the lunar surface.
“We talked to an astronaut yesterday who’s on the moon, who’s a soldier.”
The clip was broadcast live and has since exploded on social media, sparking everything from mockery to full-blown conspiracy theories.
🤯 Cue chaos: “Did he just admit to a secret moon base?”
One user on X asked:
“Did he just slip up? Is this Pentagon disinformation? That is quite the statement to make.”
Another joked:
“Greatest Freudian slip ever? Soldier on the moon. What the hell did I just hear?”
Some even speculated the US is quietly expanding its presence in space.
But others quickly fact-checked the situation — pointing out that Driscoll had earlier been speaking with NASA astronaut and US Army Colonel Anne McClain, who is currently aboard the International Space Station, not the moon.
🧑🚀 “Coolest soldier I’ve talked to so far”
Driscoll had praised McClain for her role aboard the ISS, saying:
“You have absolutely taken the cake for having the coolest and most unique job of any soldier I’ve talked to so far.”
So, no — the US hasn’t secretly planted a camouflaged moon base. But the gaffe added another moment of farce to Trump’s already surreal cabinet.
🇺🇸 Tanks, planes, and… lunar troops?
President Trump, ever the showman, also weighed in on the Army’s parade plans:
“It’s going to be a parade, the likes of which, I don’t know if we’ve ever had a parade like that… tanks, planes, thousands of brave soldiers. It’s going to be a beautiful day.”
And, with a little luck, everyone will be marching on Earth.
