Keir Starmer couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Nigel Farage’s holidaying habits during Prime Minister’s Questions this Wednesday.
🏖️ “First through the e-gates”
When Reform UK’s Lee Anderson asked about the 24,000 deportations, Starmer fired back:
“It’s very good he is standing in for the member for Clacton [Farage], I have to say, there was no sign of him yesterday at the EU [statement].
“He was the first through the e-gates somewhere to the south of France.”
😂 Commons in stitches
That line about Farage sprinting for holiday e-gates prompted a roar of laughter—including from Anderson and other Reform MPs. Even the usual stern faces cracked a smile.
⚖️ Party before country?
Starmer continued firmly on policy:
“They don’t want to fix this problem because it benefits them, it benefits them not to fix it, party before country.”
He reminded MPs he’s “very proud” of deporting over 24,000 people—“the highest record for nearly 10 years”—and pointed to the new Borders Bill.
