Donald Trump got a little scrambled during a speech at Fort Bragg this week – and the internet lit up after he flubbed a common phrase while trying to mock Joe Biden.
🧠 “Sharpest bulb,” you say?
Taking aim at the US President, Trump declared:
“I’ve known this guy for a long time. He was never the sharpest bulb.”
Cue the internet’s collective facepalm. Trump appeared to confuse two well-known sayings – “the sharpest tool in the shed” and “the brightest bulb in the box” – and accidentally mashed them into one gloriously incorrect metaphor.

Another added:
“It’s always ironic when someone insults intelligence and immediately proves they shouldn’t.”
The clip was quickly shared across platforms, with users mocking Trump for forgetting basic idioms while accusing someone else of lacking smarts.
🤦♂️ Not the first time
This isn’t Trump’s first verbal stumble while trying to insult Biden. The two men – both well into their 70s – have traded barbs over mental acuity throughout their political rivalry. But it’s moments like this that critics say undermine Trump’s favourite attack line.

Whether it’s calling a hurricane “wet from the standpoint of water” or struggling to pronounce “anonymous,” Trump’s history of jumbled phrasing continues to offer meme-makers plenty of material.
