Tucker Carlson’s explosive return to interview form has raised eyebrows – and voices – after a gloriously chaotic face-off with Senator Ted Cruz over Iran.
In a teaser posted to X, the right-wing firebrand grilled the Texas senator on his stance about regime change in Iran. What started as an interview quickly turned into a shouting match that left viewers speechless.
And it all began with one basic question:
What’s the population of Iran?
Cruz didn’t know.
🤯 “You don’t know the population?!”
Carlson couldn’t hide his disbelief.
“You don’t know the population of the country you seek to topple?” he asked. “How could you not know that?”
Cruz shot back:
“I don’t sit around memorising population tables.”
But Tucker wasn’t having it:
“Well it’s kind of relevant because you’re calling for the overthrow of the government.”
It only got messier from there.
📢 A shouting match in the making
As the tension ramped up, Cruz tried to defend his knowledge.
“OK, I am not the Tucker Carlson expert on Iran,” he said.
“You’re a senator calling for regime change and you don’t know anything about the country!” Carlson shouted.
The two then talked over each other, flinging personal digs as the interview spiralled.
🧨 Fallout from both sides
Cruz later doubled down on social media, sharing the clip and writing:
“Yep, I stand with Trump. Iran can’t have a nuclear bomb.”
Carlson, who’s been vocal in his opposition to US involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict, promised to post the full interview on Wednesday.
But this rift is bigger than just Cruz vs Carlson.
🤡 Carlson vs Trump – again
Carlson’s anti-war stance has already irked Donald Trump, who reportedly called him “kooky” and mocked him for getting axed by Fox News.
Their relationship is famously messy.
Court documents from 2021 revealed Carlson privately admitted he “hates” Trump “passionately” – despite championing him on-air. He even wrote he “can’t wait” to ignore him. Ouch.
Still, by 2024, he was back on the Trump train: campaigning for him, speaking at the RNC, and attending his inauguration.
This Cruz clash could be a sign that Carlson’s playing his own game again – and doesn’t care who he drags down with him.
