Nigel Farage was reminded of his past marriage after he criticized the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the new England football manager. The debate over Tuchel, a German-born coach, has sparked mixed reactions.

The Daily Mail referred to Tuchel’s appointment as a “dark day for England” after he was confirmed as Gareth Southgate’s replacement. In response, Farage took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to ask, “Why can’t we have an English manager?”

This comment prompted a wave of replies, with many pointing out that Farage was previously married to a German woman, with whom he had two children.

A Complicated Marriage

Farage’s marriage to Kirsten Mehr was not without its challenges. Reports from The Telegraph revealed that Farage would taunt her with chants such as “Two World Wars, One World Cup,” a popular anti-German football chant in England.
