In the footage, explosions light up the night sky, and one person begins singing The Final Countdown. Moments later, others are heard laughing. The incident comes as Gaza endures severe shortages of essential supplies due to Israel’s intensified siege. Thirty humanitarian organisations have reported that aid entering the region has reached an all-time low.
Severe Humanitarian Crisis
According to the latest Humanitarian Access Snapshot, over 20 aid workers have been killed in the past month alone. Mercy Corps highlighted the extreme dangers faced by humanitarian operations in Gaza. Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch has accused Israel of “crimes against humanity” in Gaza, pointing to the forced displacement of 1.9 million Palestinians and the widespread destruction of homes over the past year.
UN Committee Condemns Actions in Gaza
The UN special committee on Israeli practices has described actions in Gaza as “consistent with the characteristics of genocide.” Its annual report raises concerns about the use of starvation as a weapon of war and an apartheid system in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
