On Monday, Anas Sarwar, Scottish Labour leader, fired back at Nigel Farage’s false claims about him. Farage had wrongly quoted Sarwar as saying that the south Asian community “are going to take over the world” during a 2022 speech. Sarwar didn’t hold back, branding Farage a “pathetic, poisonous little man” entirely out of touch with Scotland.
🔥 Sarwar’s blistering response
Speaking to PoliticsJOE, Sarwar said:
“Nigel Farage is a pathetic, poisonous little man trying to bring his divisive politics into Scotland. This is a guy who doesn’t understand Scotland and couldn’t give a damn about Scotland.”
He pointed out Farage’s rare visits north of the border.

“He’s only been to Scotland a handful of times in the last six years. His most recent visit just exposed how pathetic an individual he is.”
🎯 Calling out inaccurate claims
Sarwar tackled Farage’s “inaccurate and racist assertions” directly:
“The man’s a liability, he’s only in it for himself. He will say anything and do anything to get people’s support. He wants to play on people’s sense of hopelessness and fears, rather than try and bring our country together.”
He expressed confidence that:
“Scotland will reject him and, actually, I’m confident the UK will reject him as well.”
"Nigel Farage is a pathetic, poisonous little man."
In Aberdeen, Farage accused Sarwar of making “sectarian” comments in a 2020 Holyrood speech. Farage claimed Sarwar said, “Why is the judiciary white? Why are these leading figures in Scotland white?” Farage insisted:

“I think that speech he gave was sectarian in its very nature – you know, we are the South Asian community, we are going to take over the country and take over the world.”
The row has dominated the build-up to the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election on Thursday 5 June. The contest was called after SNP MSP Christina McKelvie’s death. With Sarwar and Farage battling it out, all eyes are on whether Sarwar’s strong rebuke will sway voters.
