Dead by Daylight’s getting a film adaption

While Dead by Daylight does have its own original survivors and killers, most of the more popular characters are taken from horror franchises.

With Blumhouse Studios and Atomic Monster collaborating with Behaviour Interactive to create a feature-length film version of Dead By Daylight, the video game film adaptation engine is happily humming away.

Only a few days ago, Blumhouse said that it would be launching its own gaming business. “With Dead by Daylight the Behaviour team has produced a love letter to the world of horror, producing a wonderful environment overflowing with atmosphere and dangerous villains – perfect for a horrifying movie adaptation,” Atomic Monster creator and CEO James Wan said in the release.

Compared to Pixels or the potential live-action Pac-Man film, a Dead by Daylight adaptation makes more sense. If you’ve never played it, it’s a cooperative multiplayer horror game where four survivors have to leave a hazy arena as a fifth player controls a monster that is out to murder them.

While Dead by Daylight does have its own unique survivors and killers, the majority of the more well-known characters—like Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street and Jill Valentine from Resident Evil—are drawn from horror properties across games, TV, and movies.
