Kerry Washington has confirmed that the world of Desperate Housewives could soon be making a dramatic return.
🏡 Back to Wisteria Lane
Last month, Deadline reported that Washington’s production company, Simpson Street, is developing a new show called Wisteria Lane. It’s set in the same universe as the classic 2000s series, but with a fresh twist.
Deadline described it as a “fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery” focused on five very different friends – and sometimes frenemies – who all live on a picture-perfect cul-de-sac called Wisteria Lane.
Beneath the white-picket fences and shiny SUVs, though, the neighbours are hiding secrets that could tear their perfect lives apart.
🎥 Washington’s Big Reveal
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, Washington confirmed the rumours. She said, “I’m involved in developing a new spin, a new take, on Wisteria Lane.”
She added: “I love producing so much, because you get the chance to not just sit at home waiting for people to give you an opportunity, but to create opportunities for yourself and for others.”
🤔 Will She Star in It Too?
When asked if she might appear on the show as well as producing it, Washington played it coy. She teased, “For updates, you’ll have to stay tuned. Follow Simpson Street on Instagram…”
🥂 The Original Drama
Desperate Housewives originally ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012, starring Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman and Teri Hatcher as the iconic Bree Van De Kamp, Gabrielle Solis, Lynette Scavo and Susan Mayer.
The show won seven Emmys during its run, but it was also known for its off-screen drama, with plenty of behind-the-scenes clashes hitting the headlines over the years.
