The first trailer for the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon live-action film has been released. This new adaptation follows the beloved story of Hiccup and Toothless, which originally began with the 2010 DreamWorks animated film. Since then, the franchise has grown into a trilogy, including How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019). Now, the story is being reimagined in live-action, set to hit cinemas next year.

A Star-Studded Cast

The live-action adaptation features an impressive cast, including Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Gerard Butler, and Mason Thames, bringing these iconic characters to life in a fresh way.

The Trailer: A New Vision of Berk

The trailer opens with a sweeping shot of Berk, the Nordic island where the How to Train Your Dragon story is set. It showcases a reimagined version of the island, providing a stunning visual update. We hear the voice of Stoick, Hiccup’s father, saying, “When you carry this axe, you carry all of us with you.”

As the trailer continues, we see Hiccup’s internal struggle. He tells Stoick that he doesn’t have it in him to kill dragons. This moment marks a pivotal point in the story, emphasising Hiccup’s unique bond with dragons. The trailer also teases the swarm of CGI dragons that will be featured in this live-action version, blending old favourites with new visuals.

The Familiar Story Beats

As the trailer unfolds, we get a glimpse of the familiar storyline, including Hiccup’s first meeting with Toothless, the Night Fury dragon. Fans of the original films will recognise the emotional depth of this moment, setting the stage for the heartwarming relationship between Hiccup and Toothless.
