Waitrose is now under fire. The supermarket of the Telegraph reader have hit a sticky patch with the Telegraph. Waitrose Brexit and woke, what a time to be alive.
It comes as Allison Pearson wrote an article entitled: “I’m giving up on Waitrose.”
The middle class won’t put up with a supermarket that cares more about ‘values’ than stocking its shelves, she goes on.
Also, Laurence Fox is fuming about Waitrose supporting pride month.
He tweeted: “All people want is to buy dinner, go home and feed the family. This month I will be doing my shopping at @AldiUK (as they seem not to have fallen down the migraine flag virtue hole) @waitrose, you should just sell food.”
Save British Farming tweeted: “It’s always been the case that @waitrose has championed high quality British farmers and food.
“Now @Telegraph is pouring scorn on Waitrose for not abandoning British food and stocking imported lower standard foods.”
Johnson sold out farmers
There is also a row about how Boris Johnson sold out Britain’s farmers over dinner with the Australian PM. As the UK-Australia trade deal comes into force, those close to the negotiations reflect on their dramatic — and farcical — climax, reports Politico.
“After three intensive hours of talks the dinner was reaching a “crescendo,” the former Australian official quoted above said, with the Aussies pressing Johnson to give them what they wanted on beef.
“To their amazement, Johnson gave way on tariffs and product weights. Brandis, the high commissioner, moved like a flash, writing down Johnson’s pledge on a piece of paper and then excusing himself to go to the washroom. On his way to the toilet he handed the paper to an aide, the same former Australian official added.”
