The Daily Express is angry about Brexit, again.
Their front page headline read: “Labour’s shocking Brexit betrayal as Rachel Reeves admits free movement plot.”
They wrote: “Chancellor Rachel Reeves has finally confessed that Labour is planning to betray the 2016 Brexit referendum by agreeing a new youth mobility scheme with the European Union. Speaking in Washington DC, Ms Reeves openly admitted that the government “want to enable young people from Europe and the UK to be able to work and travel overseas”.
It comes as the European Commission has been pushing for a UK-EU youth mobility scheme for the past year, which would enable citizens between 18 and 30 to live and work in their chosen destination for up to four years.
The Government has faced pressure from backbench MPs to agree to the scheme as part of its “reset” in UK-EU relations.
Ministers have previously said they have “no plans” for such a scheme, but more recently appear to have softened their stance on youth visas.
In a letter to Nick Thomas-Symonds, the minister in charge of negotiations with the EU, 62 MPs and 11 peers called for “a new and bespoke youth visa scheme” for UK and European citizens under 30.
Betrayal
Here is one angry Brexiter’s thoughts: “Labour never accepted the result. Starmer spent years campaigning to overturn the result. Now Labour is selling off our Brexit freedoms to Brussels. Starmer’s surrender is Labour’s great Brexit betrayal.”
That was yesterday, now today Richard Tice has written an opinion piece in the paper with the headline: ‘This new plot to destroy Brexit shows just how much Labour hates Britain.’
Here is a section of the article: “Our economy is still on its knees — and Labour’s solution is to slash visa requirements and implement an EU youth mobility scheme, allowing just about anyone access to our country. Their “solution” will greatly increase immigration — firmly against the wishes of the British people and in no way serving our best interests. Britain simply cannot afford it.”
