Britain’s Department for International Trade has been axed in a major government shake-up, but without much fanfare.

The PM Rishi Sunak announced the creation of the new Department for Business and Trade with Sunak appointing Kemi Badenoch as its secretary of state.

This is the list of Sunak’s reshuffle.

Sunak’s reasoning?

It was left to Nick Tyrone creator of “This Week in Brexitland” to sum up what he thinks Sunak’s changes meant.

He wrote: “Sunak’s decision to very quietly shut down and eliminate the Department for International Trade is one of those occasional subtle hints that he knows Brexit hasn’t worked and furthermore, knows it never will.”

Are we going to see a massive U turn?

2.

The Dept for Int Trade like DExEU served only to show that the government had fundamentally misunderstood the Brexit they created. The DExEU couldn’t do any trade deals and was rolled back into the Cabinet Office. This is not a Ministerial shuffle just a renaming of offices. https://t.co/Thmt5P2o28
