Boris Johnson faced the cross-party committee of MPs has been looking into his statements to the House of Commons as the Partygate scandal broke

It later emerged he had given inaccurate accounts of events at 10 Downing Street during the COVID lockdown.

So after 16 months, Boris Johnson was finally forensically cross-examined over Partygate – live on TV and for nearly four hours.

Previous attempts to do so in brief media interviews or through questions posed in the Commons chamber allowed him to wriggle out of answering the questions, some would argue he did again.
