"Before Friday, we felt numb, but then the MP (Taiwo Owatemi) came round with a colleague and it was just like a little light, it was so positive.,"

The family of 12-year-old Keaton Slater, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run, have renewed hope for justice as efforts intensify to extradite the prime suspect, Dolars Aleksanders, from Latvia. Aleksanders, who is believed to have been driving the BMW that struck Keaton on Coventry’s Radford Road, is currently hiding in his native Latvia with a £10,000 reward for his capture.

Keaton’s parents, Clint and Louise Slater, appeared on BBC Breakfast alongside their MP, Taiwo Owatemi, who confirmed that UK police are working behind the scenes to secure Aleksanders’ return to face justice. The family’s petition calling for the extradition of Aleksanders has gained thousands of signatures, and Owatemi is pressing the Home Secretary for action.

“Before Friday, we felt numb,” said Keaton’s mother, Louise. “But now, with the MP’s support, we feel like we have hope again.”

Police continue their manhunt for Aleksanders, with a reward for information leading to his arrest set to expire on September 20. People can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Police can also be contacted via 101, quoting log 3407 of June 14, or emailing: [email protected].
