The head of the CBI is anticipated to argue that immigration should be utilised to address the shortage of workers in the UK and that the government must be “practical” in its approach.
Confederation of British Industry director general Tony Danker will lobby politicansĀ to permit migrant workers to fill in-demand positions.
Speaking later at the CBI conference, he will say: “Let’s have economic migration in areas where we aren’t going to get the people and skills at home any time soon. In return, let’s make those visas fixed term.”
