"Funny how Fiona Bruce never panics about the amount of Tories in her audience, but shi*s a brick when it's NHS workers."

It was a brutal Question Time for the government last night with the NHS the main topic of debate.

One Emergency Nurse Practitioner said: “I’m going to put this bluntly. It’s like a war zone in the NHS… it’s not OK… we’re tired & we’ve had enough.”

In response, presenter Bruce appeared to be unnerved that there were NHS staff in the crowd.

People were quick to criticise the presenter:

Fiona Bruce seems to be surprised that there are a lot of NHS staff in the #bbcqt audience:
1) The NHS is the largest employer in the UK
2) NHS staff are angry and want to be heard

#bbcqt Fiona Bruce having SO MUCH of a nightmare, she's actually shut down the questioner, and asked the audience to put their hands up if they work for the NHS. Unbelievable. Like a kindergarten teacher, or worse. How does she get away with this partisan behaviour?

@bbcquestiontime there she goes again, Fiona Bruce defending the Tory representative and answering for him.
Is anyone in any doubt what party she leans toward?

Sunak

It comes as Rishi Sunak has refused to back calls to boost the health service budget in an attempt to alleviate staffing pressures that have already led to strikes by nurses and ambulance workers.

Also Nicola Sturgeon, has said she held talks with the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, on Thursday evening in which the pair discussed the pressures facing the NHS.

Sturgeon described the talks as “perfectly constructive and cordial”, however she said there was “no indication” from Sunak there will be any more cash for the health service.

Sturgeon told BBC Scotland’s Good Morning Scotland programme: “No indication from the prime minister of new money, but hopefully we will see strong investment in the NHS. The Scottish government continues to work hard to avert strike action in the NHS.”

Scathing

Returning to last night’s show Anna Soubry was also scathing about the government’s handling of the NHS.

She said: “”How the hell can we sort this problem out in the NHS…. if we can’t even admit there’s a crisis, & it’s the biggest crisis in NHS history…. & let’s bring back all those EU workers to fill some of the gaps … “

Then Ash Sarkar added her fury at the Tories NHS crisis: “The reason why you don’t want to admit that it’s a crisis is because it makes your government look bad. But if you can’t be trusted to describe the problem, why should we trust you to fix the problem? It’s wholly deceptive.”

Is it time the government went on strike?

“I absolutely support the right to strike…and I’d like to invite Alex, the government and the Tories to strike immediately,” said one audience member would be happy to see the Tory government on the picket line.
