A viral video has claimed that the Government openly declares war on benefit claimants.

It comes as Jeremy Hunt unveiled a crackdown on claimants who refuse to look for a job.

The Chancellor announced he will look again at the benefit sanctions regime.

Government war on benefit claimants

The government plan to make it harder for people to claim welfare while refusing to take “active steps” to move into employment.

Also, the national living wage will increase to at least £11 an hour from April.

Dr Mike X account messaged: “The National living wage in the UK will be £11/hr next year. The junior doctor looking after you and your family members, prescribing meds and carrying the arrest bleep, worrying about GMC referrals etc is on £14/hr. Guess why we are striking?”

Civil service

Jeremy Hunt said the government were also freezing civil service recruitment.

Hunt said: “We have the best civil servants in the world – and they saved many lives in the pandemic by working night and day.

“But even after that pandemic is over, we still have 66,000 more civil servants than before.

“New policies should not always mean new people.

“So today I’m freezing the expansion of the civil service and putting in place a plan to reduce its numbers to pre-pandemic levels.

“This will save £1bn next year.

“And I won’t lift the freeze until we have a proper plan not just for the civil service but for all public sector productivity improvements.”

Shameful

Peter Stefanovic shared his new video and wrote: “SHOCKING & SHAMEFUL. This morning – unchallenged by UK news shows & backed by right wing media the Government openly declared war on benefit claimants. We cannot allow this Govt to use the poorest & most vulnerable members of our society as scapegoats for its incompetence.”
