Union boss Mick Lynch was swatting away attacks again today, this time in a a Transport Select Committee session.

Tory MP Greg Smith decided to have a pop at the union chief and it didn’t end well for him.

Driver-only

He also told the cross-party committee: “We will not accept driver-only operation in any company without a fight. We will never sign up to accepting DOO. It will never happen while I am general secretary. It will never happen as long as the RMT exists.”

Peter Stefanovic tweeted the video and wrote: “Conservative MP Greg Smith tries his luck with @RMTunion’s Mick Lynch. It doesn’t end well.”

Lynch’s reply was epic.

He said: “When we’re on strike or when we’re not on strike? What about the days when we’re not on strike, when it’s absolutely useless as well? It’s your government’s fault”.

Tory MP Greg Smith asks RMT's Mick Lynch whether strikes are driving people away from railway. 🚆

I'd argue the strike days are more convenient – at least I know my train isn't running, makes a nice change from the majority of times I turn up and its heavily delayed or cancelled

As a rail commuter I can 100% honestly say the rail service is abysmal day in day out. The strikes have done nothing to worsen it.
