Oh dear Frosty!

There is a lot of Tory anger about Sue Gray being invited to become Sir Keir’s new chief of staff.

Jeremy Quin accused Labour of “acting fast and loose” with the impartiality of the civil service.

Ms Gray, who investigated parties held in Downing Street during the Covid pandemic.

The government answered an Urgent Question on the subject of Sue Gray’s appointment as Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer’s chief of staff.

Starmer’s decision to hire the former senior civil servant for the role has caused outrage among sections of the Conservative party.

Also Jon Sopel pointed out that Lord Frost did exactly the same for the Tories.

He tweeted: “Weird that I don’t remember JRM complaining about a right-wing stitch up when David Frost stopped being a civil servant advising the government and became a Tory minister in the Lords instead. But maybe that’s different.”

Lord Frost, obviously, doesn’t see the comparison.

He wrote: “Seems I need to put this out there again today for all those who seem to think there is some parallel between the Sue Gray case and my own.”

He did work for the Whiskey association for a bit in between the jobs, but was still politically active.

Reactions

Not many people agree with Frost…

1.

Lord David Frost thinks it is wrong that somebody should leave the civil service and then work for a political party

2.

The idea that Lord Frost – an unelected civil servant that we FAIRLY appointed as a government minister – is IN ANY WAY similar to Sue Gray – an unelected civil servant that Labour DISGRACEFULLY appointed as a government minister – is simply nonsense.
