GB News suggests Trump should invade Britain and make it the 51st state

'For a channel that likes to wrap themselves in the flag and call themselves "GB News", they don't seem too keen on Britain...'

GB News has suggested that President-elect Donald Trump should invade Britain and turn it into the 51st state of America. This controversial comment comes as the channel continues to express frustration with the current UK government.

A Shift in Patriotism

Darren Grimes, a prominent figure known for campaigning for Brexit in 2016, now believes that Britain would be better off as part of Trump’s America. His remarks highlight a stark shift in his political stance, as he once advocated for Britain to regain its independence from the European Union. Now, however, he claims life under the UK’s progressive left government has become so difficult that joining the US would be a preferable alternative.

Comments Spark Debate

The comments were shared by the group Stop Funding Hate, which posted a video of Grimes’ remarks. In the clip, he expressed his frustration with the current political climate, claiming that life in the UK has become increasingly unmanageable since Labour’s election victory in July. This has led him to renounce his previous pro-independence stance.

Another clip, posted on a nationalist account on X, echoed Grimes’ sentiments. While some found the suggestion humorous, others agreed with the sentiment, saying it couldn’t be worse than living under the leadership of Keir Starmer, whom they jokingly referred to as “Starlin Starmer.”

The Irony of Patriotism

The comments have sparked a mix of laughter and outrage, with many questioning the logic behind such a drastic proposal. Critics argue that it shows a deep irony: a channel that prides itself on being patriotic is now suggesting that Britain should forgo its sovereignty and join America.
