Martin Lewis issued an on-air apology after losing his temper during a heated discussion about the Winter Fuel Payment cut with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy on Good Morning Britain. The conversation turned tense as Lewis, 52, passionately questioned the government’s decision to means-test the payment, which has sparked national outrage.

As the financial expert grilled Nandy, his frustration led to a slip of language, causing him to swear during the live broadcast. He quickly apologised for his outburst, but the moment triggered a social media storm, with viewers praising Lewis for holding the politician accountable.

During the segment, Lewis challenged Nandy over the potential impact of the cuts on vulnerable pensioners. He criticised the decision, stating that it would leave many in dire situations as winter approached.

Nandy maintained that the government was working to ensure that the most vulnerable would still receive support, but her responses were met with skepticism by both Lewis and viewers. Social media reactions were swift, with many commending Lewis for his direct approach and expressing support for his stance.

One Twitter user wrote: “Well done, Martin. That’s the most interesting and informative interview I’ve seen on GMB in years. She was clueless and unprepared, as expected.” Others echoed similar sentiments, praising Lewis for “schooling” Nandy on the issue.

Lewis, known for his straightforward approach to financial matters, has become a trusted voice for many UK households, especially as energy prices soar and financial pressures mount.

As the show continued, co-host Susanna Reid stepped in to remind Lewis to maintain his composure. Despite the brief slip-up, many viewers called for Lewis to become a permanent fixture on the breakfast show, with one tweeting: “Can we have Martin Lewis as the male anchor of GMB? He’s the most versatile, informed, and interesting of the lot.”

The incident highlighted the growing frustration over the government’s handling of energy support and financial aid for pensioners as the cost of living crisis deepens.
