This news will warm your cockles today…MPs will receive a 2.9% pay increase from April, taking their salary from £84,144 to £86,584.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa), which sets MPs’ pay, said this was in line with the average public sector workers’ rise in 2022/23.

Announcing the rise, Richard Lloyd, Ipsa’s chairman, said: “In confirming MPs’ pay for next year, we have once again considered very carefully the extremely difficult economic circumstances, the Government’s evolving approach to public sector pay in the light of forecasted rates of inflation, and the principle that MPs’ pay should be reflective of their responsibility in our democracy.”

According to Nursing Notes since 2010 the pay of nurses has risen by just £5,400 while MPs received a staggering £20,846.

Here are a few thoughts on the pay rise!

The Government will try to compare MP’s 2.9% pay rise to all the other public servants.

But Nurses/Paramedics don’t get free food, accommodation, travel, energy, mobile phones and contracts, free internet, free tv subscriptions…

Guess who doesn't need to Strike to get a £2,200 pay rise this year? Of course it's the very UK MP's, who are banning strikes to keep UK workers on the Poverty line.
I Guess their £85,000 a year, + all the shady Donations + all their expenses paid for, is just hard to get by on pic.twitter.com/aXhpIn7EAD

If MP’s get a £2k pay rise for 'dramatically increased' duties last year”, what the hell do NHS staff and Teachers deserve? !!!

6.

If you're an MP who's received a 28% pay rise since 2010, and have your meals subsidised by the taxpayer, you're in no position to lecture a nurse who, since 2010, earns £5,000 less in real-terms about pay restraint. There's plenty of money; it's just going to the wrong places.

Has any Uk Journalist ask the following?
In 2010 MP’s pay was £65,738.
In 2022 MP’s pay was £84,144.
That’s almost a 28% pay rise.
Why is it during that time, Teachers, Firefighters and Nurses pay has fallen by 13%?

Fine – then they should stop all expenses/subsidies related to food, drink, heating, second homes and furnishing them.

transport, staff and office expenses only – like every other business does.

Or simply this?

Pay rise confirmed for MP’s. Absolutely fucking shameless.
