Donald Trump and Elon Musk once made an unlikely power duo. Musk even joined Trump’s inner circle as “first buddy,” leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). But on Thursday, their bond shattered in a very public social media war.
“Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars… and he just went CRAZY!” Trump ranted on Truth Social. “The easiest way to save money… is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts.”

He also denounced Trump’s “big beautiful bill” as a “disgusting abomination” stuffed with “MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK.”

Elon called Trump a pedophile thus revealing he knowingly supported and befriended a pedophile and only said something when he thought it would make him money
Trump claims Musk only turned on him after learning the bill would cut electric vehicle incentives. He insisted Musk knew the bill’s details well before its passage.
“Elon knew it better than almost anybody… and he never had a problem until right after he left,” Trump told reporters.
Musk countered on X:
“False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”
💰 Money and gratitude
Musk poured almost $290 million into Trump’s 2024 campaign. Trump believes he could’ve won Pennsylvania without Musk’s cash—and Musk agreed.

“Without me, Trump would have lost the election,” Musk shot back. “Such ingratitude.”
🐉 Tariffs, pork and recession warnings
Musk reshared a post calling Trump’s tariffs “super stupid” and predicted they’d trigger a recession later this year. Republicans like Rand Paul sided with Musk, warning the “big beautiful bill” would swell the deficit by trillions.
🦚 Press team tries diplomacy
The White House tried to downplay the feud. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Musk lost out on his favoured provisions.
“The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again.”
Still, insiders admit Musk’s sudden hostility caught advisors “off guard” and left Trump “confused.”

🏛️ From-friendly to foes
Back in 2016, Musk slammed Trump as unfit for office. By 2017, he quit Trump’s advisory board over climate policy. Then, in 2022, Musk bought X and reinstated Trump’s account. He endorsed Trump after the July 2024 assassination attempt, ploughing millions into his campaign.
But by Thursday, Musk’s posts threatened to derail Trump’s signature legislation and hinted he might form his own party.
“Is it time to create a new political party… that actually represents the 80% in the middle?” Musk asked.

Musk also urged Trump’s impeachment and even teased decommissioning SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft. Former aide Steve Bannon called for probes into Musk’s immigration and sobriety.
“He should be deported,” Bannon insisted.
Republicans like Rep. Jeff Van Drew and Rep. Troy Nehls publicly turned on Musk.
“Nobody elected Elon Musk… to be honest, even on both sides don’t like him,” Van Drew quipped.
Whoops.
Here’s leaked audio of Jeffrey Epstein saying Trump was his closest friend for 10 years.
