Environmentalist Chris Packham has said he is taking a career hiatus following the conclusion of Winterwatch.

The Springwatch presenter’s latest show aired its final episode on 27 January, marking the start of an absence from our screens.

Packham said he was is in need of “some brain space” having been working constantly for 40 years, fair play to him.

However, just as he was aiming to get some rest, an article by the Mail on Sunday caught his attention for the wrong reasons.

Chris Packham tweeted: “Morning @DailyMailUK you have identified the young woman in this article as my niece . She isn’t . We have no idea who she is . Please remove this post and print an apology ASAP . Why didn’t you ring me , or my sister , to get your facts right ? Please RT”
